Using the sport of baseball as a platform to impact the lives of others, Coach Reed started his baseball coaching career back in 1994. Through the “ripple effect” we have on those who we influence, he has worked with over 600 players as a coach or private instructor in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Kentucky. He has had the privilege of personally training 43+ players that have signed to play baseball professionally including MLB pitchers Mark Buerhle (retired) and Ross Detwiler. In addition, many of Coach Reed’s former players are actively coaching at some level of baseball. Reed is a former college coach of over 20 years with stints at both NCAA and NAIA institutions to include Lindenwood University, Asbury College, Transylvania University, University of Kentucky, FCA National Baseball, and Ottawa University. In 2010, Reed’s Ottawa University team won the KCAC Championship and was named Coach of the Year. While as a college coach, Reed assumed duties as pitching coach, hitting coach, fielding instructor, catching instructor, base-running coordinator, strength and conditioning supervisor, and recruiting administrator. Coach Reed grew up in the St. Louis area and has played every position but finally settled in as a pitcher. Reed has served as an instructor at Ozzie Smith’s Sports Academy, Memorial Sports Complex, Advanced Baseball Academy, Building Champions, and Diamond B. As a high school player, Reed played select travel baseball for former MLB players Ron Hunt (Mets), Dwight Gooden (Mets), Bucky Dent (Red Sox), and Mark Littell (Cardinals and designer of NuttyBuddy) whose team compiled a 210-15 record in 3 seasons. Coach Reed played baseball on scholarship at William Jewell College from 1992-1996 winning HAAC Championship in 1994. After college, Reed signed a professional contract with St. Louis Cardinals but unfortunately due to a vehicle accident, he was unable to fulfill that contract and retired from playing. After rehab, the Cardinals made Coach Reed an area scout and Reed is still active in helping his friends who are MLB scouts. Coach Reed continues to conduct private lessons in all facets of the game.
